Billie Jean

from by Unwoman

Nothing got us hip music majors dancing at college parties in small Santa Cruz beach flats apartments like "Billie Jean." Michael Jackson's death was a sad, sad day for everyone of my generation. I found myself poking mournfully with this song on piano and shortly thereafter figured out how to configure it for acacella. It's probably my most popular song when I'm busking.

Here's me playing it in 24th St BART:

When I play this live I often announce it by saying something like, "you know I'm classically trained. So, I hope you'll indulge me by letting me play a classical piece for you all." I start it like I'm starting the Kodaly Sonata, triple-stops and heavy, decisive breaths.
